Who remembers when Vine pretty much ruled the entire social media world back in 2013? The app, which allowed you to upload six second videos, was all of our obsessions before it unfortunately got shut down in 2017. When it ended, it was truly the end of an era. Well guys, brace yourselves because we just got news that they’re finally relaunching the app, and we’ve got all the deets!

News first hit the web that they were making a new Vine app back in November of 2017. It was originally going to be called V2 before they decided to change the name to Byte. However, over the last year and a half there hasn’t been much talk of the app. So based on the lack of updates, everyone started to assume that it wasn’t happening after all.

But on April 22, 2019, one of Vine’s co-founders, Dom Hoffman, announced Byte still in the works. He even a posted a video of what the app’s going to look like, and boy, does it look epic.

Byte’s official Twitter account also revealed that they sent out emails to 100 lucky users, allowing them to give the app a try.

“Just sent out 100 Byte beta invites for our first closed test, which starts tomorrow,” they wrote. “Will expand to more testers soon.”

According to Digital Information World, unlike Vine, you can’t upload a video from your camera roll to the app — you can only record a new one. They also reported that although you can leave comments or likes on videos, Byte doesn’t allow users to follow each other. However, based off the initial feedback, they reported that these features are likely to change before it’s release.

OMG. This is seriously the best news ever! We mean, a ton of our favorite stars got their start on Vine — like Shawn Mendes, Lele Pons, Cameron Dallas, the Dolan Twins, David Dobrik, Jake and Logan Paul, Jacob Sartorius, Nash Grier and a ton more.
