Most famous ex-couples refuse to talk about their exes during interviews, but Harry Styles is not like the rest. During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the "Sign of the Times" singer did not shy away from questions about his once ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift and what he said is quite endearing.

The interviewer said their chat started off super casual, with Harry preparing to discuss the subject openly and even going to the restroom first in preparation.

"I gotta pee first. This might be a long one. Actually, you can say, 'He went for a pee and never came back,'" he said coming back minutes later saying, "Thought I'd let you stew for a while."

Harry talked about the now infamous Central Park date the two went on as their second date which became major news all over the world and catapulted them as a couple fans named "Haylor."

"When I see photos from that day, I think: Relationships are hard, at any age. And adding in that you don't really understand exactly how it works when you're 18, trying to navigate all that stuff didn't make it easier. I mean, you're a little bit awkward, to begin with. You're on a date with someone you really like. It should be that simple, right? It was a learning experience for sure. But at the heart of it – I just wanted it to be a normal date."

The couple did not stay together for long and it reportedly ended during their vacation in the Caribbean. The breakup left Taylor hurt and heartbroken, inspiring plenty of songs. Fans believe that many of the songs on 1989 are about the One Direction singer and when asked about them, Harry was as kind and sweet as possible.

"I mean, I don't know if they're about me or not but the issue is, she's so good, they're bloody everywhere."

"I write from my experiences; everyone does that. I'm lucky if everything [we went through] helped create those songs. That's what hits your heart. That's the stuff that's hardest to say, and it's the stuff I talk least about. That's the part that's about the two people. I'm never going to tell anybody everything."

Has he told Taylor how he feels about these songs, prior to this public interview?

"Yes and no. She doesn't need me to tell her they're great. They're great songs … It's the most amazing unspoken dialogue ever."

"Maybe this is where you write down that I left!" he said when the reporter asked if there is anything he wishes to tell the "Out of the Woods" singer. "I don't know. Certain things don't work out. There's a lot of things that can be right, and it's still wrong. In writing songs about stuff like that, I like tipping a hat to the time together. You're celebrating the fact it was powerful and made you feel something, rather than 'this didn't work out, and that's bad.' And if you run into that person, maybe it's awkward… but you shared something. Meeting someone new, sharing those experiences, it's the best sh-t ever. So thank you."

His new album titled Harry Styles is due out in May, and fans are already speculating that "Ever Since New York" is about they Haylor romance. Harry though said in the interview that a lot of it is actually inspired by a more recent relationship, not naming the girl.

"She's a huge part of the album. Sometimes you want to tip the hat, and sometimes you just want to give them the whole cap …  and hope they know it's just for them."

Could he be talking about Kendall Jenner? Or perhaps someone he dated outside of the public eye? The world will never know until the album comes out.
