Ed Sheeran and One Direction have a long history filled with girl drama, reconciliations, and epic bromantic moves. But before that, we first got a taste of their relationship when the singer-songwriter famously penned "Little Things." It instantly became a hit, but there was major behind-the-scenes drama that almost meant he never wrote another song for them again!
"I wasn't gonna do it...basically, my record label got very annoyed that my first number one was a song that I gave to someone else, and they were kind of like 'don't do it'," he revealed during a recent radio interview.
While Simon Cowell personally asked Ed to write a song for the group, he initially declined so he could focus on his own music. But in Copenhagen, inspiration struck...in the bathroom!
"I just got an idea and I went in the shower room, where it's big and reverberative, and wrote it. I was like, 'That sounds like a song that would be perfect for them', and sent it across. It's one of these songs that I wouldn't have used for myself; it was written specifically for them."
Since we're beyond excited for 1D's new album Four, we definitely can't wait to hear the track Ed wrote — especially because he wrote the ballad specifically for the band.
Are you glad that Ed is still writing music for 1D? Do you think their new song will sound like "Little Things"? Tell us in the comments!
