Zayn Malik has opened about the behind the scenes of just how he joined forces with Taylor Swift for their song “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” While visiting the The Elvis Duran and The Morning Show, the singer opened up about how it all went down and how he got her to be on the song.
Even though the pair had a feud on Twitter earlier this year, they somehow got connected through a music producer and made the song for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack. He explained: “We were kind of in separate places when I mentioned the idea to her. I spoke to her on the phone and she heard the song because (producer) Jack [Antonoff] had played it to her. So she really liked it and she went in the studio the next day.”
“The interesting thing was she’s actually friends with Gi, so she already reached out because Jack had just played her the song anyway, just because we’d done it together and she really liked it…so I asked if she wanted to be on it and she was cool with it.”
It's clear that his girlfriend Gigi Hadid, or Gi as he called her, was a huge part in forming the connection between these two musical powerhouses — and after hearing the song, we are so glad she did.
The singer also opened up about people calling him ungrateful about his opportunities that One Direction granted him, and he revealed that he realized that was something that he had to work through and sort out within himself. That's so admirable!
