We are heartbroken to report that Ashley Sawyer, who appeared on Catfish, has passed away. She was only 23 years old, and her family has not revealed the cause of death.
MTV released a statement, saying, "MTV is deeply saddened to learn that Ashley Sawyer has passed away. Our condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends."
Host Max Joseph offered his condolences to her family.

Ashley appeared on an episode in 2013, after she started dating Michael Fortunato online. Although they both didn't use accurate photos of themselves, they realized that they had a real connection when they met up IRL. Sadly, he passed away when he was 26, shortly after their episode aired.
