The internet pretty much lost it after alleged footage of BTS‘ Jungkook cozying up to a girl hit the web. The video seemingly showed the K-pop artist hugging a female tattoo artist, and fans quickly started to assume that they were dating. But now, the group’s management team, Big Hit Entertainment, has shut these rumors down once and for all.
“The now circulating dating rumors regarding our artist Jungkook is absolutely not true,” they said in a statement. “During his visit to Geojedo, he realized his circle of tattooist acquaintances was also visiting there so he hung out with them. We are sorry that his private life during his extended break had to be distorted like this. We are currently investigating whether or not the picture was taken illegally, and will take strict legal action accordingly. In addition, spreading of false information to defame our artist will also face strict legal consequences.”
Fans also noticed that the 22-year-old singer was sporting a new ink design recently, and although it’s hard to make out, some believe that it’s the tattoo artist’s initials. But she too denied that anything was going on between her and the musician, writing on Instagram, “I’m absolutely not in a relationship with Jungkook.”
“I’m posting this because of what’s spreading online and the unfortunate situation of people causing misunderstandings by impersonating me. I didn’t say anything because it seemed obvious that people wouldn’t believe me or they would interpret what I say the way they want or I would get even harsher responses,” she added. “I would like to once again state that it’s absolutely not true that I’m dating Jungkook or that I tattooed my initials on him. We’re simply close friends, and I am very apologetic as it seems fans were extremely hurt in addition to myself and people around me. I will not say anything further. I’d just like to make it clear that I wasn’t ignoring or disregarding everything.”
It’s looks like Jungkook is single after all!
