We first fell in love with Jorge Lendeborg Jr. as Nick in Love, Simon, and now he is back on the big screen! This time around, he’s teaming up with Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, and our favorite Transformer, Bumblebee, in an unforgettable new adventure in the Transformers world: Bumblebee. Jorge caught up with J-14 and gave us the exclusive deets on being a part of the blockbuster flick! Check it out!
J-14: We can’t wait to see Bumblebee! For those who aren’t familiar with the movie’s plot, can you tell them what it’s about?
JLJ: It’s about a yellow space alien (Bumblebee) who meets a couple of humans — Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld’s character) and Memo (my character). They all end up hanging out and saving the world from bad alien space robots!
J-14: What’s your character Memo like and are you anything like him in real life?
JLJ: Memo is a confident, yet anxious teen who moves into Charlie’s neighborhood and is instantly smitten by her. He has a lot of heart and a real good spirit. I think Memo is like a heightened version of me around girls when I was growing up.
J-14: When you got the news that you landed this movie, who was the first person you told?
JLJ: I think it was my brother. I have a rotating list between my brother, mom, dad and sister that I tell news to, but it usually ends up being whoever called me last hears the news first.
J-14: Growing up, did you ever have a car you loved as much as Charlie loves Bumblebee?
JLJ: I actually just bought my first car, so sadly, no.
J-14: Seeing how you and Hailee filmed mostly together, did you guys get really close?
JLJ: Yeah, we had a few inside jokes… but they’re way too embarrassing to share! It could’ve just been the 20-hour days we shot together where we became delirious, but I remember we laughed a lot on set.
Bumblebee hits theaters on Dec. 21, 2018.
