Sorry, guys, but Simon Cowell won’t be able to appear on America’s Got Talent due to his recent back injury. But not to worry, because Kelly Clarkson is set to fill in instead! Yep, on Monday, August 10, the songstress took to Twitter and announced in an “urgent memo” that she would be temporarily replacing the judge for the AGT live shows.

“My friend, Simon Cowell, is doing better now but was in an accident and won’t be able to make Tuesday and Wednesday’s live shows for AGT,” the former American Idol winner wrote. “But no worries America, someone far wiser, cooler and hotter is taking his seat! The unbelievably amazing Kelly Clarkson. You’re welcome in advance!”

As fans know, this came one day after Us Weekly confirmed that Simon had been hospitalized after news hit the web that he had broken his back in a scary bicycle accident. The 60-year-old was test riding his electric bicycle in Malibu, CA, when he fell off.

A spokesperson told the publication that, “He hurt his back and was taken to the hospital. He’s doing fine, he’s under observation and is in the best possible hands.”

The Hollywood Reporter also said that Simon underwent surgery on Sunday, but it’s unclear how it went. Multiple outlets also reported that had a metal rod placed in his back during five hours of surgery. He has since taken to social media and updated fans on the status of his health.

“Some good advice… If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time. I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages,” the former American Idol judge wrote on Twitter on Sunday, August 9. “And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone.”
