Do you hear that guys? That’s the sound of wedding bells. Love is in the air for Michael Clifford because the 5 Seconds Of Summer guitarist just announced that he’s engaged to his longtime girlfriend Crystal Leigh! SCREAMING.
The 23-year-old shared the news in an emotional Instagram post on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019. “I was lucky enough to ask the love of my life to marry me in the place it all began for us,” he wrote. “In the last three years she has helped evolve and shape who I am in ways I could never have imagined. I couldn’t ask for anyone better to spend the rest of my life with. I love loving you, Crystal.”
According to Us Weekly, Michael popped the question to Crystal at the Ungasan Clifftop Resort in Bali with the sunset in the background, and it couldn’t have been more romantic. Especially because it also happened to be the exact spot where the couple had their first kiss three years earlier. Ugh, how sweet is that? The 23-year-old even played the 1975’s song “Medicine” as he got down on one knee, which was reportedly the same song that played during their first kiss. Wow, talk about goals.
Michael even set up a tent where he scattered various pics of them throughout their relationship. And after she said “yes,” the guitarist had all of her friends surprise her for an impromptu celebration. It truly sounds like a magical evening.
Crystal took to her own social media to gush over the news. “Speechless, jet-lagged and overwhelmed with joy,” the 34-year-old wrote on her Instagram Story.
“Still trying to enjoy this moment off my phone but wanted to pause for a moment to say thank you for all of the kind messages, love, and support,” the model added. “It means more than you know.”
