The stars of CW’s Riverdale are not if anything dedicated to the show and their roles. Most notably, KJ Apa who ahead of the show’s season one finale revealed to fans that he actually broke his hand while filming.

Of course finding this out sent shockwaves throughout the fandom and everyone at first wanted to know how it happened, but right after watching the finale fans easily assumed that this all went down while they filmed a scene where Madelaine Petsch’s character Cheryl was being rescued – which it did, but that’s not the surprising part of this story.

Turns out the second KJ broke his hand, he actually didn’t tell anyone that it happened and he actually continued on shooting as if everything was normal! Yeah, he was somehow able to mask the intense amount of pain he had to be under.

In an interview with TV Line, the actor dished about that intense scene and revealed how exactly he came to obtain the painful injury. He said, “I wasn’t really punching the ice, but I got a little bit too excited. I was punching a foam mat … [that was] sitting on the ice. … It was cold, so I didn’t really feel it. It wasn’t until 20 minutes after that I realized I broke my hand. I didn’t tell anyone.”

KJ deserves some major props for not being 100% dedicated to the role and scene, but also for somehow not tipping off anyone that he was badly injured.

How he was able to do it, we’ll never know exactly until he decides to share the complete story with fans.

The actor took method acting to a whole new level, that’s for sure. Though here’s hoping that KJ is a little more cautious while filming season two. The last thing anyone wants to hear is that he secretly got hurt again.
