Be still our hearts, could Edward Cullen be coming back to our movie screens after all? The one and only Robert Pattinson — who brought the vampire to life in The Twilight Saga — just recently admitted that while he can't believe it's been nearly a decade since the first movie was released, he would be down to return to the role. Basically, because he's been spending all these years preparing for it, thanks to his skincare routine.
"I was literally talking to my agent about it, the amount of time I spend moisturizing, I am ready to play 17 at a moment's notice. I can do it," he said with a laugh to Variety, adding, "It definitely doesn't feel like 10 years ago. Whenever anyone says [Twilight]'s their guilty pleasure, it’s like, you say guilty, what you really mean is just pleasure."
Hey, he has a point there! There is nothing wrong with being proud of your love for Twilight, something Rob hasn't always been so keen on himself. There have been plenty of times when he's basically poked fun at the movies and admitted he was almost fired from the first one. Now, we understand it's important to have a sense of humor about everything in life – and there's nothing wrong with that. But Twilight was massive and a true moment in pop culture, so Rob, now 32 years old, should be owning it, right?
It seems like now, all these years later, he is embracing it. The fact that he's joking about how he doesn't quite look like a teenager anymore is kind of amazing. It's not the first time he's expressed an interest in possibly returning to his bloodsucker roots. Back in 2017, he told Yahoo it's something he wouldn't necessarily be opposed to.
"I mean, I’m always kind of curious. Anything where there's a mass audience — or seemingly an audience for it — I always like the idea of subverting people's expectations. So there could be some radical way of doing it, which could be quite fun. It’s always difficult when there's no source material. But, yeah, I'm always curious," Rob said.
While there is no set plan for any sort of reunion or reboot, it's nice to know the beloved Edward would be down to return, maybe one day.
