Robert Pattinson is surprisingly curious about what it would be like to play the now iconic role of Edward Cullen from the Twilight series. The actor has been busy at work promoting The Lost City of Z, a movie that has been ten years in the making. Rob was first approached to do this film about a decade ago and it is finally hitting theaters this weekend. But like any other Twilight alum, he could not escape the question of whether or not he would be willing to star in a new installment of the saga.
Just recently, it was rumored that a new film could be in the works but apparently, Rob did not get the memo. “Really, they’re expanding it? So I’ll get my own spin-off?” he said.
“I mean, I’m always kind of curious. Anything where there’s a mass audience — or seemingly an audience for it — I always like the idea of subverting people’s expectations. So there could be some radical way of doing it, which could be quite fun. It’s always difficult when there’s no source material. But, yeah, I’m always curious,” he told Yahoo.
At the height of the franchise's fame, it was impossible for Rob to get away from die-hard fans but have those fans followed him into his new projects?
“It’s definitely calmed down in terms of my everyday life, but mainly because I spend more time in London, which is totally different. And I’m doing more parts that just sort of interest me, while in a lot of ways taking a little bit of a step back just to learn and get better. I guess I’ve never really acknowledged what the fan base is, or even if I have one.”
"But, yeah, I’m always pretty curious about what people say afterward, and who turns up, who likes the movie. It’s always kind of random. But I love it when someone who you just really wouldn’t expect says, 'Oh, I liked you in this.'"
His work has changed quite a bit since his role as a shiny vampire. For this new movie, he is playing someone that is searching for a hidden civilization in the Amazon so he had to wear a beard that makes him look like a totally different person. How was that different that being covered in shiny makeup?
"By the end, I was definitely over it. But at least when you’re shooting a movie with your face covered, there’s very little makeup to be done. It was definitely a “Get out of bed and that’s it” situation. That helped in the middle of the jungle."
Just recently Kristen Stewart also said she would be willing to take on the role of Bella Swan again, so the possibility of a new Twilight movie just keeps getting better and better. And we hope it happens really soon.
