Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are officially married! The two wed on Saturday, Dec. 1, at a gorgeous, Indian palace and celebrated all weekend long. It looked super romantic and totally magical. Decked out in traditional Indian outfits and complete with horses, elephants, and swords, the wedding was a total fairytale.
Their relationship seemed like it came out of nowhere and moved rather fast, as the pair announced their engagement not long after the public even knew they were dating. But as the couple recently revealed the true origin of their love story to Vogue, they’ve actually known each other for two years now and their romance took some time, but they kind of always just knew it was meant to be.
The 36-year-old actress admitted that Nick texted her Quantico co-star admitting his crush on Priyanka. He sent her a DM, which led to her giving the 26-year-old singer her phone number and they texted for months. They hung out only a few times and during one of their first hangouts at Priyanka’s apartment, her mom was there watching TV, so when Nick left, he gave her a pat on the back, no kiss or hug.
“There was no kiss. There was nothing. She’s still upset about that,” Nick said. “Your mom was in the house! I thought it was a respectful first night.”
Umm okay, how adorable is that? After their official third date to a baseball game, that’s when Nick said he told his mom he was going to marry Priyanka. And then came the actual proposal.
“I got down on one knee, again, and I said: Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me? No joke — she took about 45 seconds. Forty-five seconds of silence,” Nick said, which Priyanka attributed to the fact that she was left utterly speechless. Nick then told her, “I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections.” And the rest is history! Oh, and did we mention that he got down one knee once before this? Yeah, so the first time they ever met IRL was at an Oscars party and when Nick saw his future Mrs. walk into the room, he immediately got on one knee and freaked out over her.
“And I put my drink down, get on one knee— this is in front of a bunch of people — and I say, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’ Like, loud,” Nick confessed. Legit couple goals all around. And now, they’re officially lovebugs forever. We’re crying.
