Selena Gomez And The Weeknd: Why Their Relationship Went Public

It’s safe to say that Selena Gomez and The Weeknd completely rocked the world when they were first spotted kissing a couple of months ago. Seriously, no one saw it coming. When the shock finally settled, there were so many questions – naturally. Like, how long had these two ACTUALLY been together? How could we have all possibly overlooked this? Now, Selena is opening up and isn’t hiding anything about their romance.

Apparently, this open and honest thing wasn’t her plan all along. Sel admitted that she wanted to hide this relationship but it was just too exhausting to keep up with. We don’t blame her either. Being one of the biggest celebrities in the world right now, everyone is always following her. Following her on social media and in real life.

Sooner or later, this relationship would have started to make headlines.

Selena chatted with Ryan Seacrest during On Air With Ryan Seacrest and said, “It’s really hard when I would want to spend so much time hiding things. It’s too much pressure, and I think everyone gets over everything eventually. I just want to be happy. If that’s me just being myself, then I don’t really care.”

Ryan clarifies, in case someone was unsure, that Selena is referring to her boyfriend “The Weeknd”. It’s then that Sel corrects him and says, “Abel.” LOL! Of course, she probably doesn’t call him by his stage name. And now were just thinking about Selena calling Abel’s name from the other room and things just seem even more normal between them than they already were. Sighhh

This new relationship of hers came after she took an abrupt break from the spotlight to focus on her health. Ever since her comeback, things have been looking up. With this new love, new music, and an album, Selena is hotter than ever. She continued, “I’ve been doing this for so long and I needed a second to breathe. When I did that, I came back and I had it for a while, and I think it’s safe to say I feel like I have a whole album put together at this point. I wanted to make sure my life was balanced and happy and healthy first.”

We can’t help but wonder if she plays her new music for The Weeknd first or he gets surprised just like the rest of us!
