We’ve seen the timelines of everything Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have done since that one fateful night when paparazzi caught a sneaky photo of them kissing outside of a restaurant. From their European vacation in Florence, Italy to weekend trips home to Selena dancing the night away as The Weeknd performed on stage. Oh yeah, and fans can’t forget their red carpet debut at the 2017 MET Gala where they officially became one of Hollywood’s hottest couples.
But, what happened before the kissing photo? How exactly did Selena and The Weeknd’s paths cross before they got together romantically? We’re they always destined to be together? While, of course, we can’t really know for sure but the editors at J-14 have decided to take it upon themselves and point out the facts.
The facts pointing to the idea that Selena and The Weeknd had always been on a path towards each other.
Selena and The Weeknd are successful musicians.
This just goes to show that they had something in common, something to talk about and something to confide in each other about before the romantic aspect of their relationship started flourishing. Being a musician, as big as they are, they deal with a lot of the same things. So, even if there was literally nothing else to talk about before these two got close, they always had that common ground. Even if it was just talking about other artists’ music.
Selena and The Weeknd ran in the same circle of friends.
While no one knew that these two were actually pals before their relationship started, it’s obvious that their paths crossed more than once. Selena and Taylor Swift are best friends. Taylor is also best friends with Gigi Hadid who is sisters with Bella Hadid. Obviously, Bella had a long term relationship with The Weeknd. It might seem like a very interconnected web of friendships but we can totally see Taylor throwing a party and inviting all of those people. Selena and The Weeknd were bound to be in the same room together at some point.
The Weeknd was attracted to Selena all along.
Now that everything has been put into perspective, fans realize that the line in his song “Party Monster” is about the “Hands to Myself” singer. The lyrics go, “Like Selena, a– shaped like Selena.” Clearly, he was checking her out long before they got together.
Selena and The Weeknd both went through very public break-ups.
These two aren’t new to having their personal life make headlines. They were in on and off relationships for years. Selena and Justin Bieber had a messy split and The Weeknd and Bella didn’t exactly end on good terms either. Not only that, but people are still talking about how they are related to their exes. To be honest, it’s probably not fun to go through and they may have learned a lot from the past which would make their relationship even stronger.
Selena and The Weeknd performed at the same gigs.
If fans recall, Selena and The Weeknd both performed at the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. We have a feeling they definitely formed a connection at the show while backstage together. The Weeknd even jokingly bowed down to her while they were on stage during the final walk. Obviously, he had a lot of respect for her even back then.
In short, these two have had similar lifestyles for a long time and their paths have undoubtedly crossed. There’s no denying that a friendship was formed behind-the-scenes way before anyone ever caught onto it. Not only that but before they made it in this big world called Hollywood, they came from nothing. They both have had to learn what hard work looks like and what it takes to be successful. Selena and The Weeknd have the same work ethic which only ties them together even more.
It’s a safe bet to conclude that Selena and The Weeknd were bound to end up in each other’s lives.
