Selena Gomez indirectly slammed Hollywood Records for not letting her make the music that she's been wanting to create for a while! The singer says that she's attempted to write songs like "Good For You" for a few years, but Disney's record label didn't let her work with hip hop and R&B artists like A$AP Rocky. (She signed with Interscope Records last year, so that's no longer a problem.)
“[O]n my previous albums I’ve attempted, and they’re like, ‘Aw, next album,’ or ‘Aw, you’re too young.' And it’s fine. Obviously, it is kind of scary coming into my territory with my fan base, but for this record I’ve really kind of taken everything into consideration. I am becoming an adult, which is important," she said.
We're glad that she's finally able to make the music that she wants to make, even though it's totally new territory for her Selenators. Her new album sounds like it's going to be her most personal one yet.
