The highly-anticipated Sierra Burgess Is a Loser finally hit Netflix on Sept. 7, 2018. Similar to Netflix’s other hit teen rom-com, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before – everyone is naturally wondering whether or not the story will continue. Have we seen the last of Sierra, Jamey, Veronica, and Dan? Or is there a sequel in our futures? Well, there is still no word from Netflix on the matter. However, RJ Cyler – who plays Dan, Sierra’s bestie – does have some ideas on what he hopes to see in a potential Sierra Burgess Is a Loser 2.
“I would be down to do it in a heartbeat. I would want to show people the reason why Dan went to an all-girls college. A lot of people are like ‘Why would Dan go to a..?’ And I’m like ‘Hey..’ That would be fun to explore, fun to see why,” the 23-year-old actor said in an interview with Teen Vogue.

That’s not all RJ would want to see from his character Dan. The star is also super curious to see how Dan and Sierra’s friendship woud be outside of high school, as grown-ups.
RJ added, “And then to have the steady relationship between him and Sierra and then be able to see how it all kind of comes together. I want to see the adult Dan, the adult Sierra. Are they still these fun childish best friends or are they even worse best friends? Like way more childish now because we’re older we have more at our disposal, we can do more? So now it’s like we get into a little bit more trouble a little bit? I don’t know. Especially if Ian [Samuels]’s directing. If Ian’s directing I’m totally in. Aw man. He’s so doggone cool.”
Before the movie premiered, leading lady Shannon Purser said that she’s pretty confident the whole cast would be down to come back for a sequel. That is, if it happens.

“I think it was something that we kind of talked about,” the 21-year-old actress said in an interview. “But not seriously. Not in the sense that we are joking, but in the sense that we just don’t know how the movie will do yet and if people would want that. But I think that we would all very much be up for it and be interested in it.”
We’ll just have to wait and see!
