Power Couples: Zayn Malik And Gigi Hadid Want Normalcy

They just want to be normal, you guys. Let them live.

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have been dating for a long time now – November 2015 was the first time they were spotted together leaving The Nice Guy restaurant in Los Angeles, California. So, it's almost been two years and ever since their first public outing these two have been considered a power couple.

I mean, how could they not be? She's one of the biggest models in the world right now and he not only was in One Direction but his abrupt exit from the band garnered mounds of attention. Oh yeah, and he has a solo album that was mega successful. If anyone should be considered a power couple, it's Gigi and Zayn.

But, they are so not about that life. If shippers think about it, these two haven't been seen together in a long time. Aside from quick paparazzi photos of them leaving and entering Gigi's apartment in New York City, they tend to hide from the public eye when they are together. The whole reason behind this is because they don't want to be thought of as that power couple they once were and pretty much still are. They want to be normal!

Zayn chatted with the Evening Standard he said, "In New York [where Hadid is based], you can sometimes get out in the early hours of the morning for a walk," he said. "But there’s no underground parking here, no escape routes. So they’re going to get pictures, they’re going to find you. In L.A. [his US base], it’s more catered to these things—you’ve got back entrances and that."

Clearly, they want to stay low key. When this idea of being dubbed a power couple was brought up, Zayn said, "That's not something I want to be a part of. I'm with her because I like her and I hope she's with me because she likes me. When we come home, we don't really talk about that sh-t. We just spend time together as a normal couple, cook food, watch TV, have a laugh."

Aww! This is really freaking cute. But, we can't help but wonder if there is a bit of shade being thrown at Zayn's past relationship with Perrie Edwards. Those two were very much in the public eye and considered a power couple of their own because they were both in hugely popular U.K. bands – 1D and Little Mix.

However, that relationship clearly did not end well. We can't help but think that Zayn wants to separate himself from that whole Perrie and power couple thing because he wants things to last with Gigi. From experience, he knows what happens to a couple when too much of their personal life is in the spotlight. He's trying to get as far away from that life he had with Perrie as possible.

And if he keeps up his current ways, he'll get there. He and Gigi will be normal in no time…maybe.
