Degrassi has been a television staple for years, and now the newest iteration, Degrassi: Next Class is hitting Netflix! (The show premieres today for all your binge-watching purposes.) J-14 recently caught up with Ricardo Hoyos, Ana Golja, and Sara Waisglass, who play Zig, Zoë, and Frankie in the series. They EXCLUSIVELY spilled about everything from being a fan of the franchise to the craziest part of reading their scripts. So what is? The fact that their plotlines sometimes eerily mimic their personal experiences!
"I feel like sometimes I go to the read-through and I'll read something off the first time and I'll be like, 'Woah, that is so spot on.' [It's like] they're with me or like that happened with us in the cast. It's so crazy, to the point where you're like...it's crazy," Ricardo told us.
Sara added, "I think this year especially was the most relatable. Obviously, we talk about the scripts after we read through them, which is awesome. That's probably one of my favorite parts. I noticed that for this year, we were talking so much longer. We just had so many personal stories to share and I thought that was so awesome because if we can make a conversation and talk about it, other people will be able to, and that's so special."
So, are they willing to spill any details about what those particular stories are? Not quite. Still, it's so cool to know that they've lived through these experiences too!
