One Direction's longtime songwriter and ultimate BFF Julian Bunetta has spoken up about the earth-shattering 1D break news! In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the producer says that they definitely need the break — especially before it takes a strain on the group's dynamic.
“I know they’re taking a much-deserved break. They’ve been doing something that no band has ever done — five albums, five tours, and a movie in five years. It’s pretty prolific and incredible. It’s up to them. They might take a year off and miss it. They might take a year off and say you know what, I need another year off," he said.

“I think it’s important for them to have a relationship that isn’t strained by being gone all the time. It’s important for them to do whatever they want as individual men and not have to make a democratic decision for once. I think it’s important for them to do whatever their hearts desire. Maybe their hearts will lead them back together. I hope.”
Us too, Julian. Us too. We just hope that they make the best decision for themselves, so that they don't get burnt out. Regardless of how they choose to spend their hiatus (and how much time they actually end up spending apart), they will always be brothers. That is something that will never change.
