The cast of 13 Reasons Why has been hard at work filming Season 2 of the hit Netflix drama that took the world by storm, but they have been faced with some complications. Filming for the second season of 13 Reasons Why has had to unfortunately be put on hold, and the reason why is utterly devastating.
Deadline reported that the breakout series, which is executive produced by Selena Gomez and her mother Mandy Teefey, was unexpectedly shut down earlier this week due to the Northern California area wildfires that have already destroyed tons of homes and taken multiple lives. The Paramount TV production has been filming in Vallejo, California, where thick smoke has been pretty intense depending on the wind patterns.
As of now, shooting is set to restart this upcoming Sunday, October 15, as the cast and crew were already supposed to have days off on Friday and Saturday. Due to the fact that many of the cast and crew members live in the zones wrecked by the fires, they flew out anyone who wanted to leave during the unplanned break.
Leading actor Dylan Minnette, who plays Clay Jensen, took to Twitter to share the news of the filming hiatus and send his thoughts and prayers to those affected by the tragedy.
We film 13 Reasons Why in many of the areas in NorCal affected by these devastating fires. Sending love and thoughts to everyone involved.

Devin Druid (AKA Tyler Down) also posted about the unfortunate events.
His co-star Alisha Boe, who portrays Jessica Davis, replied with heart emojis.

13 Reasons Why is coming back in 2018, and there is no word on whether or not their temporary shutdown will affect the release date.
