All the Hidden Messages in Ariana Grande's 'Breathin' Music Video

Ariana Grande just dropped her new music video for her single “Breathin” and there are TONS of hidden messages in it. From Pete Davidson references to possible track lists… we’ve uncovered them all.

Besides the giant Easter eggs throughout the video, the storyline itself has lots of symbolism in it. It’s widely known that the song is about Ariana’s struggles with anxiety and having to take a step back to breathe to get through it. And the music video definitely illustrates that. As Ariana sings, the video goes back and forth between two different scenes — a crowded train station and a peaceful, cloudy sky. It’s clear that one represents her struggles and feeling trapped while the other represents her freedom.

It’s certainly been a busy week for Ariana. The music video comes just days after she dropped a surprise single, “thank u, next,” slayed a performance on the Ellen Degeneres Show, and was awarded with Billboard‘s Woman Of The Year award. We’re not sure how she even had time to make a music video between all of her achievements lately, but she did and it’s epic.

The cloud symbolism.

Clouds are a prominent theme of the music video. Some fans believe this could be a reference to her song “Problem,” which has the lyrics “head in the clouds got no weight on my shoulders.” But we’ve noticed something else — her and her ex, Pete Davidson have matching cloud tattoos, so it might be an ode to him!

Recreating her old music videos.

There’s also tons of imagery throughout the video! If you look carefully, the singer recreated different scenes from her old music videos. Like this one for example, many fans thought it could be a nod to the “God Is A Woman” video, where the singer was seen sitting in the exact same position.
