Billboard has announced it’s 2018 Woman Of The Year and, drum roll please, they’ve chosen Ariana Grande!

The 25-year-old will receive the award at Billboard‘s 13th annual Women in Music event on Dec. 6, 2018, in New York City. Previous recipients include Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Madonna and Selena Gomez, so she’s in some pretty amazing company. In a statement, Billboard‘s vice president of content Ross Scarano explained their choice, saying that the “God Is A Woman” singer “consistently stands up for herself and her decisions in a world that often isn’t hospitable to that sort of strength in young women.”

Ariana totally deserves it, and we’ve rounded up a few of the many reasons why!

She constantly encourages her fans to love themselves the way they are.

As an artist, Ariana has a lot of young ladies looking up to her, and the singer has used this opportunity to constantly promote self-respect and self-love.

“I just want them to love themselves so much,” she said about her fans at an event in Hong Kong last year. “I think the thing that I want to instill in them most is [the message that] you are loved, and there are so many different kinds of beautiful. You are beautiful today if you have 10 cupcakes, and beautiful tomorrow if you do a juice cleanse. You’re beautiful because of who you are.” She also explained that she feels a “motherly attachment” to her fans, and that she wants to instill in them what her mother taught her when she was growing up.

“That’s what my mom would tell me as a kid: ‘We love you. No one cares if you gain or lose however many pounds,’” she explained. “You’re healthy, you’re alive, you are loved… whatever weight you are, whatever situation it is, whether you have a breakout, whatever it is.”

As if that wasn’t sweet enough, the singer even got upset when she noticed some fans were covering their faces in photos they took with her because they thought they looked bad.

“I love meeting y’all out and about, it makes me so happy!” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “But it makes me so sad when y’all don’t put your faces in the photos or put emojis over your faces or ask to not be in them! You show me so much unconditional love all the time no matter what TF I look like. You deserve to show yourselves that same kindness, please learn to give that to yourselves! You will get there and you deserve it and I love you the very same way! Sweet dreams.” After the touching message, fans began to post selfies on Twitter, using the hashtag #SelfiesForAriana. Many even shared how the singer had helped empower them to practice body positivity. Once Ariana saw how fans were responding to her request, she shared a clip of herself scrolling through the hashtag, writing, “I love you so much. Y’all are such a light in my life thank you for making my day already.”

She’s donated and raised millions of dollars for charity.

Ariana helped organize the One Love Manchester concert last year, raising more than $23 million for victims of the May 2017 Manchester bombing that sadly took place at one of her shows. The concert featured performances by Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Katy Perryand Niall Horan. Not only did Ariana quickly step up to plan the whole event not long after the tragedy, but she also released two singles with all proceeds going to the victims. She is truly a blessing.

Not to mention, she’s absolutely slayed the charts this year.

With the release of her fourth studio album, Sweetener, in August, Ariana’s already had three singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album itself debuted at number one and had more than 127,000 sales in the first week. She also just dropped a surprise new single, “thank u, next” which has taken the world by storm.

So basically, she really is perfect for Billboard‘s Woman Of The Year honor, and we couldn’t be happier for her.
