Ariana Grande created a total self-love bop with her latest single “thank u, next” and part of what makes the song so great is the fact that she opens the track legit name-dropping her ex-boyfriends and explaining what she learned from each of those relationships. Iconic, truly. The 25-year-old songstress admitted two of her former loves, Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez, heard the song before she released it on the world, but now, Ricky is sharing his side. But don’t expect any shade here! Basically, he’s grateful for his time with Ari, too and it’s actually really cute.

So here’s what happened: The 26-year-old dancer took to his Instagram Story to share his reaction to the song, proving that these exes don’t have any bad blood between them. Ariana reposted what Ricky shared on her own IG story too! Ricky said that he has “nothing but gratitude” and that the song he inspired are fire, which Ari agreed with.

She included the moon and bunny emojis to represent that the songs she’s referring to that are about Ricky appear on her Dangerous Woman album. He then shared a video on his Story where he’s listening to the part of the song that’s about him and in “thank u, next,” Ari sings, “Wrote some songs about Ricky/Now I listen and laugh,” so he jokingly made a funny face while listening to that part of the song. But leave it to Ariana to clear the air and apologize to him!

“I’m sorry u got the worst line. It was meant v lovingly,” she wrote.

Both Ricky and Ariana are out here joking with each other, so he really doesn’t mind that he was named in the song. Not all of Ariana’s former boyfriends were mentioned though, as Jai Brooks and Nathan Sykes were noticeably left off the list, which might stem from the fact that these relationships were both surrounded with cheating rumors and a lot of public drama.

Plus, Ariana was much younger when she dated both guys and she possibly views the four relationships she does speak about in a different way. She dated Ricky, who was one of her backup dancers, for a year before they split and he was with her in that now infamous donut shop video. It’s nice to know they really have nothing but love and respect for each other, even after breaking up and moving on. Something we can all learn from! And now, Ricky’s in a hit song created by Queen Ari forever. Not too shabby.
