Ariana Grande is still mourning the death of her ex-boyfriend and longtime friend, Mac Miller, which is to be expected anytime someone loses a person they were very close to. But after the singer shared a touching tribute to the rapper on Thanksgiving, she received some major backlash on Twitter and she was not having any of it.

The 25-year-old shared a sweet throwback pic of her with her ex that she had posted to her Facebook account one year before. “A pie,” she had originally captioned the photo of her nuzzled up to Mac with a Thanksgiving filter. “You’re [very] missed,” she wrote on top of the memory, which she posted to her Instagram Story.

But when one fan claimed that the “God Is A Woman” singer was “milking” Mac’s death on Twitter, Ariana was quick to shut him down.

“I pray you never have to deal with anything like this ever and I’m sending you peace and love,” she wrote in response to the fan’s harsh tweet. “Some of the s–t i read on here makes me sick to my stomach,” she continued. “It scares me the way some people think and I don’t like this world a lot of the time. If only we could be more compassionate and gentle with one another. That’d be sick.”

As J-14 readers know, Ariana has been very vocal about missing Mac ever since he passed away from an overdose in September. The singer even paid tribute to him in her new single “Thank U, Next” when she sang that she wished she “could say ‘Thank you to Malcom,’ ’cause he was an angel.” Ari also shared a heartbreaking tweet about him at the beginning of the month, when she replied to a recorded video from one of Mac’s old Instagram Lives that a fan sent her. In the video, he can be heard listening to her song “R.E.M.” off of her Sweetener album. “He is supposed to be here,” Ariana wrote.

Don’t listen to the haters, Ariana, take as long as you need to heal. And the fact that she’s not letting go of Mac’s memory speaks volumes of the person she truly is.
