There’s always been tons of mystery surrounding what exactly happened with Selena Gomez and Charlie Puth after they released their bop, “We Don’t Talk Anymore.” There were rumors that the duet resulted in a romance, but there was never any proof that anything did actually happen…that is until now. In a new interview with Billboard, the “Attention” singer revealed that he and the “Fetish” songstress did date, and she actually messed him up a bit.
Charlie dished, “I don’t kiss and tell, but the only way a song like that can come across as real is if there’s something else going on behind the scenes. And that’s what was happening [with Gomez]. Very short-lived, very small, but very impactful. And it really messed me up. I’m trying to put this the best way possible: It wasn’t like I was the only person on her mind. And I think I knew that going in — what I was getting myself into.”
“You gather up a bunch of emotion with the life shovel, throw it in the life bucket, mix it up, and she evoked such good emotion on that song, it was a pleasure working with her. That’s why I’m always happy to sing it, even though it came from a dark point in my life,” he continued to say.
Okay, so this is major! But before anyone can get a chance to actually freak out about this, a source close to Selena recently told People that the two never actually dated. Uhm…so this is a bit confusing. Could it be that Charlie was perhaps reading a little too much into things at the time? After all, he did reveal that he wasn’t the only person on her mind. It’s totally possible, but one thing is for sure now — the two definitely don’t talk anymore.
