From the looks of it, the Vlog Squad might be getting a new name in 2020! On Friday, December 13, YouTube star David Dobrik attended the 2019 Streamy Awards and during a red carpet interview, he revealed that he wants to change the group’s name.

“The Vlog Squad…We gotta change that name,” the 23-year-old internet star said. “When I first started hearing the [words] Vlog Squad, we literally all got in the living room and we were like, ‘We need to come up with a better name! We can’t be stuck with this.’ And we couldn’t come up with anything so it’s kind of our fault. But it sticks now. It works. That’ll be our New Year’s resolution, get a new name.”

For those who missed it, David founded the group of 20-something year old YouTubers back in 2017. Since then, they have quickly rose to fame and become internet sensations amassing millions of subscribers on the video streaming site.

During the awards show hosted on December 13, the Vlog Squad took home the award for Best Ensemble Cast. Before the ceremony, David dished on what the group being nominated for a Streamy Award means to him.

“My favorite part about anything, especially with the Streamys, is that literally all my friends from LA are here,” he said. “So, just to be able to share a moment like this with them is really cool. And it’s always a cool picture to see all of us on stage for something. So I hope there’s a moment where we can do that.”

The YouTube star even got real about why he thinks viewers love and connect with the Vlog Squad videos so much.

“I think it’s because we’re genuinely having fun and that’s kind of our goal,” he dished. “We’re pretty honest with the videos we put out and it’s very on par with what we would be doing if the cameras weren’t on…I think the most important part of anyone creating videos or creating anything is just being genuine and having it be true to what you want to do and who you are.”
