On November 12, Demi Lovato went Instagram official with new boyfriend Austin Wilson when she posted a mirror selfie that showed the couple cozied up together with Austin playfully kissing her on the cheek. From the looks of it, they’re a total match made in heaven! An insider close to the couple recently dished on their relationship and revealed what made their initial connection so strong.
“Austin and Demi share the same circle of friends and most of them are also in recovery,” the source told In Touch. “It’s super important for her to surround herself with people who are healthy. But Demi feels really comfortable with Austin because he understands her struggle and her journey, so they can really talk about and bond over their shared experiences and their sobriety.”
Another insider explained that 27-year-old singer first met the 25-year-old model through mutual friends.
“Demi’s new boyfriend Austin is best friends with her hairstylist Dom Serna, who works for Chris McMillan” an insider previously revealed. “Demi and Austin have been running in the same circle for a while and have been friendly and things recently turned romantic.”
The pair were also very close to the late Thomas Trussell, who passed away in October following a battle with addiction. Both Demi and Austin have spoken publicly and posted tributes for their friend.
The “Tell Me You Love Me” singer is clearly back and doing better than ever. This relationship news came just after Demi took to her Instagram Stories and teased new music to fans and followers.
“Recording a song for my loyal #Lovatics,” she captioned a snapshot posted to her social media that showed a microphone in a recording booth. “The ones who support me and whatever makes me happy… If you hating – that ain’t you, BYE.”
