Fans are furious after they discovered that James Corden doesn’t really drive during Carpool Karaoke. That’s right, a fan snapped a video of the talk show host filming a new segment of the hilarious series with Justin Bieber on Wednesday, January 22, and everyone was pretty shocked to discover that a trailer was actually pulling his vehicle in it.
“The fact that James Corden doesn’t actually drive during Carpool Karaoke must be the biggest lie since we found out that Zac Efron didn’t sing when he played Troy Bolton [in High School Musical],” one fan wrote on Twitter, with another adding, “YOU WANNA TELL ME ALL THOSE TIMES I WATCHED THOSE CARPOOL KARAOKE VIDEOS JAMES CORDEN WAS JUST FAKING IT AND WASN’T DRIVING AT ALL I-“

“James Corden doesn’t even drive when he does Carpool Karaoke,” a third Twitter user said. “What the f**k does he keep turning the car for then? This is some ultimate clickbait s**t.”
But hours after the video hit the web, the show’s producer, Ben Winston, took to Twitter to clear the air.
“Not true!” he wrote. “We only use a rig when we are doing a ‘stunt’ as part of the Carpool — when it would be impossible for James to drive! This has occurred only maybe four times in 50 or so carpools… Safety is key!”

“By stunt I mean — dance routines/costumes/props/etc. Don’t worry too much though. I’m pretty sure there are bigger issues to worry about!” he added.

For those who don’t know, Carpool Karaoke started as a video segment on The Late Late Show With James Corden, but eventually got its own show on Apple. In the series, a bunch of fan favorite celebrities join James as he seemingly drives to work. But during their ride, the 41-year-old turns on the radio — and the guests are forced to sing along to whatever he puts on.
The results are always hilarious, but besides seeing stars like Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus and the members of One Direction belt out some classic tunes, there’s also been some other epic moments in that car. Like the time that the TV personality actually kissed Harry Styles, for example. Or the time that Katy Perry totally shaded Taylor Swift back in 2017!
