There’s no doubt about it, Garrett Clayton and fiancé Blake Knight are one of the cutest couple’s in Hollywood. But as it turned out, their engagement story might not have been as romantic as fans might have thought. The Teen Beach Movie star recently revealed how his other half proposed, and the pair actually had a major fight before Blake got down on one knee.

During an episode of Mean Girls star Jonathan Bennett‘s new YouTube series “Quarantine Coffee” the 29-year-old revealed that he almost “ruined their engagement” more than once. The triple threat said he knew Blake was going to propose during their January 2018 trip to Iceland because he wasn’t “stupid.”

“I want to talk about things before we get engaged. I want to make sure that if we take this next step, there’s no questions left. We know exactly what we’re getting into. We know where both of our heads are at, and that started a three hour fight and then we took a break. Then we had another hour and a half fight and then we took a break. Then we [needed] another 30 minuted to wrap it up with a bow,” Garrett explained. “I think too many people jump into it with too many questions left unanswered and it’s like this is the rest of our lives…and then we got engaged.”

As fans know, the couple was together for seven years before deciding to take the next step in their relationship. Now, it’s been almost a full decade and their love is still going strong. One year after the proposal, Garrett took to Instagram and shared the exciting news with his fans.

“I’ll never forget your face in that moment when you got down on one knee. Love, nervous, and excited (Obv, I was going to say yes) all rolled into the love of my life. Everyday with you is filled with joy and laughter(even when we get heated every night over who has to get out of bed to turn off the hall light),” he captioned the adorable post.
