There’s no better friend than Hailey Baldwin! On Friday, November 1, the 22-year-old took to the Instagram comments section to defend Normani after a troll criticized her stunning Halloween costume.
The Fifth Harmony singer celebrated the holiday by replicating a look pop-icon, Cher, wore in 1979. She shared the incredible silver outfit and wings with fans and followers by posting a collection images to social media.
According to Life & Style, one Instagram user responded to the 23-year-old’s pictures with since-deleted, negative comments telling Normani she shouldn’t dress up as the legendary singer.
“I don’t think this is the right costume for a black girl,” the person wrote. “Cher is white and Cher was thing [sic], Cher did a lot you not even close to her you black people think you own everything not fair you could’ve done beyonce or rihanna or janet but no cher cher is white respect her.”
Once Mrs. Bieber caught wind of the comment, she didn’t hold back and clapped back in the best way. The 22-year-old called out the commenter for her racist words and totally stuck up for her friend.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with Normani dressing up as Cher for Halloween,” Bieber replied. “What do you mean by the first sentence? She can do it because she wants to, she is doing much better than you, you’re behind a computer complaining about a costume. Stop being racist and get out of her page if you don’t like it. It’s 2019 and you’re still supporting the garbage of Trump, Marta.”
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time the Dancing With The Stars alum has faced social media trolls. Back in 2016, she partnered with non-profit organization, The Cybersmile Foundation, to stop online bullying.
“I feel like it’s almost my purpose to speak up about my experience so it could help somebody else,” Normani said during an interview with Us Weekly. “The hate is not going to stop, but I needed to make a point that you can’t run away from a bully. You can’t allow someone’s hate to dictate your life.”
