After she was mislabeled as bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock in a news article, Jade Thirlwall took to her Instagram Stories and slammed the media outlet who posted the photo.

“@msn if you’re going to copy and paste articles from other accurate media outlets, you might want to make sure you’re using an image of the correct mixed race member of the group,” the Little Mix member captioned the since-expired social media post.

“This s**t happens to @leighannepinnock and I ALL THE TIME that it’s become a running joke,” she continued in other Instagram Stories post. “It’s lazy journalism. It’s ignorant. It’s rude. It offends me that you couldn’t differentiate the two women of color out of four members of a group. There’s even images of me in the article followed by an image of Leigh as if they couldn’t tell we’re not the same missed race person?! DO BETTER.”

Days before she called out the media outlet, the Seattle Times reported that MSN had “plans to use artificial intelligence” and replace some “sews producers.”

“MSN will use AI to replace the production work they’d been doing. That work includes using algorithms to identify trending news stories from dozens of publishing partners and to help optimize the content by rewriting headlines or adding better accompanying photographs or slide shows,” sources told the publication.

For those who missed it, Jade’s social media posts also came just after she explained why she “subconsciously” didn’t talk about her race after joining the girl group on the X Factor in 2011.

“I think when I then entered the group I subconsciously didn’t want to talk about my heritage or what my background was in fear of not being as popular, which sounds awful to say but I was only 18 years old and through years of being ashamed of who I was I found it quite hard to talk about it,” the now 27-year-old admitted on the “No Country For Young Women” podcast,. “I think it was through a lack of education as well. Even now, I am constantly learning what the right things are to say and I would hate to talk about my race and my heritage and not say the right things.”
