Katy Perry has enough drama to worry about after Taylor Swift released the brand new music video for her track “Look What You Made Me Do” at the 2017 Video Music Awards. There were lots of references to their highly publicized feud and now we’re just wondering why she had to seemingly create new beef. Katy hosted the award show and didn’t exclude Justin Bieber from the narrative. Her jokes weren’t exactly funny and throwing shade at the “Sorry” singer was just another eye-rolling moment from the overall mediocre job she did throughout the night as the show’s host.

The “Roar” singer got on stage at one point carrying a fake baby who inevitably fake spit-up on her. But before she got all shady on us, DJ Khaled and his son Asahad joined her in front of the audience. Everyone went wild, obviously. Asahad is literally the hardest working, cutest babe in Hollywood and Katy’s fake child could not compete. But, she tried. And while she tried, she shaded Bieber at the same time.

Katy said, “My baby knows the lyrics to “Despacito,” unlike some other babies I know.” LOL, okay then. Clearly, Katy is referencing the few times Justin was asked to sing his hit Spanish-English track and couldn’t. He was caught on video at a club in New York City singing total nonsense in place of the Spanish words. There was also the time when fans threw a water bottle at him on stage when he refused to sing the Spanish version during a Purpose Tour performance.

But, hey, give the guy a break. Spanish isn’t his first language and if Luis Fonsi is not making it a big deal, Katy shouldn’t either. In a previous interview, Luis said, “That chorus is not easy to sing, even for fluent Spanish singers like myself. It’s got a lot of lyrics, it’s kind of tongue-twisty. I’ve done songs in other languages, I know how hard it is.” Justin has yet to comment on Katy’s jab but we have a feeling he wasn’t as torn up about it as we were.

So, let’s build each other up instead of knocking each other down, shall we? To be clear, Katy probably didn’t write her “jokes” during the VMAs. There was most likely someone else behind the monologues. But, still, Katy has enough on her plate at the moment – like figuring out how to end her Taylor feud before Taylor ends her.
