Hey One Direction fans, prepare to have your hearts broken. Yeah, you might want to grab some tissues because Liam Payne just opened up about his time in the band, and he had some pretty negative things to say about it.

“When you’re doing hundreds and hundreds of [concerts] and it’s the same 22 songs at the same time every single day, even if you’re not happy, you’ve got to go out there,” he told Mens Health Magazine. “It’s almost like putting the Disney costume on before you step up on stage and underneath the Disney costume I was pissed quite a lot of the time because there was no other way to get your head around what was going on. I mean, it was fun. We had an absolute blast but there were certain parts of it where it just got a little bit toxic.”

Ok, we may or may not be crying right now. And when he was asked if he ever felt in control during his time in the group, which was also made up of Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, the singer admitted, “No. Never.”

“I still struggle with it now,” he added. “I really struggle to say no because I don’t like to let people down. It’s in my nature.”

As fans know, the heartbreaking admission comes just days after the 25-year-old revealed he suffers from agoraphobia — an anxiety disorder in which you fear places that might make you feel trapped, helpless or embarrassed.

“I do sometimes suffer with it a bit in the sense that I’ll get days where I just don’t want to leave my house,” he told Esquire Magazine. “Even if it’s just going to the shop. I’d be going in to order a coffee at Starbucks and I would sweat because I wouldn’t know whether I was doing the right thing or not. I would be thinking, ‘F–k, I don’t want to be here.’ I even used to have a really bad problem with going to [gas] stations and paying for [gas]. I can feel it now — it was like this horrible anxiety where I’d be sweating buckets in the car thinking, ‘I don’t want to do this.’”

But don’t worry, you guys, because despite his recent comments, the “Strip That Down” singer has confirmed on multiple occasions that he’s all for a 1D reunion. And back in February, Liam told Daily Star Newspaper that the band is going to get back together in 2020! Phew. We hope that when they reunite, the 1D heartthrob will have much a much more positive time.
