Our hearts go out to Niall Horan and his entire family today as news breaks that his aunt, Susan Horan, passed away after suffering a heart attack in their hometown on O’Growney Drive in Mullingar, Co Westmeath. The Irish Sun is reporting that Nialler's aunt died suddenly. She will allegedly be put to rest tomorrow, which means the "Too Much To Ask" singer will most likely not be able to attend the services. As many fans know, he is in the middle of his Flicker Sessions tour.
Susan is said to have been married to Niall's uncle Paddy. This uncle is Niall's dad's brother. Her funeral notice reads, "Susan Horan (nee McCann) – O'Growney Drive, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath – September 23, 2017 (suddenly) at her home. Beloved wife of Paddy and dear mother of Haley (Reilly); she will be very sadly missed by her loving husband and daughter, her adored grandchildren Cillian, Eoin and Ciara, son-in-law Stephen, sister Sandra, brother Terry, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends."
The former One Direction star has yet to comment publicly on the news. His latest Instagram post announces the cancellation of his Flicker Sessions tour in Mexico City; however, that is due to the fact that the area just experienced a massive earthquake. There was no indication that Nialler stopped the show because of his aunt's untimely death.
He wrote on the gram, "Unfortunately, due to the recent tragic events in Mexico City I have had to cancel my upcoming show. I'm grateful for the overwhelming support from fans in Mexico. This difficult decision was made out of great affection and concern for the safety of my fans. I will be back very soon. Please join me in donating to the Red Cross."
According to Susan's funeral notice, she passed away on Saturday. Thinking back to where Niall was when this all happened, he was performing at the iHeart Radio Musical Festival in Las Vegas. Of course, he made no mention of it there. But, it's important to remember, Niall has always been a very private person, especially when it comes to his family. There's no telling how close Niall was with his aunt or the kind of relationship he had with her. However, family is family and no matter how strong their connection was, this is definitely still tough to go through. Our hearts go out to Niall and Susan's loved ones at this tragic time.
