A huge congratulations is in order for Shay Mitchell! The Pretty Little Liars leading lady announced on Friday that she is expecting her first child.
The brunette beauty took to Instagram to express her excitement and share the big news with her fans. This heartwarming news comes just over six months after the star sadly revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage in 2018.
“Does this mean I’m allowed to drive in the car pool lane at all times now?” the 32-year-old wrote alongside the topless photo, which shows off her growing belly.
According to reports, the actress has been dating TV host Matte Babel since January 2017. Neither of them had commented on the rumored relationship publicly — that is, until now. Yep, that’s right. In a YouTube video posted to Shay’s official channel, she shows off her belly with her boyfriend, Matte, by her side. In the announcement video, titled “Guess Who’s Preggers | Shay Mitchell,” the star explains why she waited to share the news with fans.
“When you’re in the public eye, there are some things you want to just keep a secret until you feel ready,” she said. “This is going to be really fun and awesome when I’m not trying to hide it anymore.”
On January 1, Shay had shared an emotional Instagram post about her previous miscarriage.
“The support and affection that so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, one of which happened last year after I miscarried and lost the child of my hopes and dreams,” she wrote. “In the spirit of the new year, I think that we need to remember that we are all on this journey together — in good times and in bad — and to remind ourselves that we seldom really know or understand the struggles and hardships that other people are going through.”
If one thing is for sure, it’s that Shay is going to be an amazing mother!
