Pixie Lott has become a household name in the United Kingdom, and now she's ready to show America what she's got! She's starring as Judy in Fred: The Movie, which premieres tonight on Nickelodeon at 8 p.m. ET, and she's working on releasing her debut in the album in 2011. J-14 recently talked to Pixie, and she told us all about playing Judy, what it was like to work with Jason Derülo and Joe Jonas, and what she really thinks about Justin Bieber!
J-14: What is your character Judy like in Fred: The Movie?
Pixie Lott: She's the girl that Fred loves, and the movie is basically his journey on trying to get to her. She's the popular girl at school -- very girly. Judy just sees Fred as a friend until right at the end of the movie.
J-14: What was it like working with Lucas Cruikshank and Jennette McCurdy on the flick? Did you guys have any silly moments on set?
Pixie: Jennette's really friendly and Lucas is really chill, calm, and friendly too, so we all got on really well. It was a really, really nice cast. Jennette and I both got stuck in the toilet! We had to use these porta-loo things in the trailers, and this one porta-loo you had to lock it, and then you can't get back out. So I was literally in there for about a half hour trying to get out. Nobody heard me scream so I just ended up just sitting by the sink waiting for someone to come.
J-14: Your debut album, Turn It Up, is set to hit the U.S. in 2011 -- what can we expect on the record?
Pixie: It's going to be a little bit different from the album that I released over here. I've written some new songs. I really like the new single that comes out [in the U.K.] called "Broken Arrow." I just shot the video to it. Maybe it's my favorite at the moment because it's coming out! It's about how you're in a relationship and you really love the person, but you kind've been pushed away and the relationship is over. This new boy comes along and tries to take you out and treat you nice and spoil you, but all you can think about is the other old love, and you just can't not love him. It's quite an emotional one.
J-14: What was it like working on material with Jason Derülo and Joe Jonas?
Pixie: Jason's really talented and professional. He's really passionate and works hard, and it's nice to be able to relate to someone who's doing exactly the same thing and has a passion for it, so that was wicked. I always bump into Jason at shows when he comes over here or in different countries because we're on the same promotion schedule. Joe is really talented. Him and all of his family are so nice -- they're really cool people.
J-14: Did you and Justin Bieber talk about working together after you met in France?
Pixie: My label lady introduced us and we had a little chat! He was really sweet! I don't think we talked about music. It was more like "Where are you from?" "What are you doing?" that kind of thing.
