I've always been a huge fan of the Broadway musical Wicked -- I've seen it twice, and doubt I'll ever take the soundtrack off my iPod.
Lat week was a huge one for my favorite Wicked song, "For Good", originally sung by the characters Elphaba and Glinda on Broadway. First it was on one of the final episodes of the The Oprah Winfrey Show, then Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) performed it on Glee!
I love the song "For Good" for two reasons. First of all, it has a great message: that friends, especially great ones, change the course of our lives and help make us who we are. Second and most importantly, it makes me think of my best friend in the world, my sister.
My sister Brenna and I grew up singing in choirs, around the house, and in the shower. Now we live across the country from each other, but whenever we get to spend time together we whip out the Wicked soundtrack and start working on our duets.
Brenna and I have belted out every song -- from "Defying Gravity" to "Popular" -- so many times that our parents have definitely begged us to keep it down. Unfortunately for them, we don't back down easily -- especially when it comes to "For Good." "For Good" holds a special meaning to us because of how important we are to each other. Although it wasn't by choice (you can't help who your siblings are!) we're lucky enough to have an amazing, supportive relationship that means everything to us.
After all my gushing about "For Good", I know you're dying to hear it. Luckily, I posted it below! You can also listen to other songs on the Soundtrack and buy the original cast recording RIGHT HERE.
Have fun! And if you love to sing, I recommend finding an awesome duet buddy. :)
