Katy Perry's reps say she's not writing a song about Taylor Swift called "1984"! Even though the "Roar" singer is listed as the artist for the track on BMI's website, the pop star claims she isn't associated with the tune at all.
"Katy Perry’s managers at Direct Management Group confirm that this story is completely false. Katy Perry was not involved in writing, singing, recording or registering this song," her rep told Billboard.

Well, that clears up a lot of things! There had been a lot of rumors that Katy was musically getting her revenge on her 1989 nemesis, and it seemed like it was a done deal after her name was associated with this new track. But apparently, the Swedish management company BMG registered the song, which was co-written by Andreas Carlsson.
He worked with her in the past, and helped write "Waking Up in Vegas," but she apparently had no idea he was working on a song called "1984"! Still, that doesn't mean we can't expect a Taylor diss track — it's just not going to be this one.
