Riverdale actress Madelaine Petsch is killing it in her breakout role of the one and only Cheryl Blossom. She plays the rich, popular River Vixen everyone loves to hate – and her character's style on the show is truly envy-worthy. However, there has been some speculation about whether the star was naturally born with these Cheryl vibes or if she dyes and injects her way to achieving the look. Let us confirm for you – it's all real! But that's not the only thing people have wondered about the red-headed beauty. We're breaking it all down for you.
"I’m a natural redhead. It's funny because I was made fun of for it so much as a kid. I grew up in a small town, I was the only redhead other than my brother. We had South African accents, I was a vegan, I was raised without religion. I was just the weirdest kid in this small town, so I got made fun of a lot for it. My brother got stones thrown at him! So now I very much embrace it and want people to know I'm a natural redhead and proud of that," Madelaine told Cosmopolitan.
Despite rumors that she got lip injections and plastic surgery, Madelaine hasn't had any type of work done of the sort.
"Yes. [People ask me] all the time. If my hair is real, if my eyelashes are real, my butt's real. It's constant. It's all real. All natural, baby!" the star said.
Before the show, Madelaine was not really a fan of wearing red and orange against her auburn hair color. However, that changed when she wore so much red on the show – including her lipstick! So what lipstick does she use, you ask?
"I was always afraid to wear oranges and reds, which is so ironic because red is all I wear on the show. I ended up loving it," she dished to The Huffington Post, as reported by "The Tea" newsletter. "On the show we use Covergirl Outlast. Every single episode."
Nope! Madelaine is dating recording artist Travis Mills, and the way the two met is just too precious – although, they seem to have different stories.
"I drove down to Riverdale, ordered a milkshake at Pop's diner. I threw it all over the diner. She was like, 'I like your style.' And I was like, 'Yeah, come with me.' And I drove her back to California and never let her leave," Travis spilled in Madelaine's #AskMads YouTube video.
As great of a story as that is, it is definitely not what really happened. They actually met after he auditioned for Jughead. Yep, you heard that right!
"He messaged me on Facebook in January of season one and congratulated me on the show. He had auditioned for Jughead. I think we just randomly had mutual friends, so we added each other. We kept in touch very rarely, not even that much, from January to February, and then the day I got back from season one in February I was bored in L.A., believe it or not. I was like, 'What am I gonna do?' I got my hair cut and he texted me like, 'Let's go to a movie!' We hung out and spent every single day together that I've been in L.A. since then, since February," Madelaine explained.
OUR HEARTS. Is that not the cutest thing you ever did hear?
"I was raised vegetarian. I turned vegan [at] about 14. I felt a lot healthier. I didn’t feel as lethargic because I wasn’t eating milk or eggs," she told Peta2.
Although many people think Madelaine is a spitting image of Teen Wolf actress Holland Roden, they are not sisters, cousins, or related in any way, shape or form.
They are total twinsies at heart though, if you ask us.
Madelaine was born on August 18, 1994, making her 23 years old.
The actress was born in Port Orchard, Washington – but her parents are from South Africa. As a child, she split her time between South Africa and Washington.
