If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all — that’s the motto Niall Horan lives by, and he wants everyone else to do the same. The One Direction member just clapped back at internet trolls and cyber bullies, after he noticed some other artists getting a lot of hate online.

I see a lot of abuse aimed at artists online. Why can’t everyone just concentrate on the artists they like and if you don’t have anything nice to say about artists you may not like, well just keep your mouth shut,” he wrote in a Twitter rant on Sunday, December 8. “I’m not talking about any artist in particular. I’m talking about the culture on here of just abusing people because you can. It’s not like you would walk down the street screaming out loud about the people you dislike a small bit.”

But the singer wants fans to know that for him personally, the hate never affected him.

I’m too private, I don’t read things online,” he continued. I don’t really know what people are talking about online but every now and then I’ll look and I see people just saying awful things, especially to the female artists.”

“I’m not talking about me [because] frankly I don’t give a s**t about that stuff [because] I’ve [got] better things to be worrying about but… some of the abuse I see artists getting on here is shocking,” the “Slow Hands” crooner also replied to a fan who told him not to read the nasty comments.

“These girls work so hard on their craft and lyrics, dance routines, screen content, marketing etc… and then they just get ridiculed by trolls online,” he added.

Fans were pretty proud of the musician for using his platform to stick up for his fellow artists. Go, Niall!
