Just weeks after Liam Payne revealed that he and Louis Tomlinson secretly hated each other when One Direction first started, Niall Horan admitted that if he and his former bandmates didn’t take a break when they did, they “were gonna end up killing each other.” During their time in the band, it appeared that Niall, Liam, Louis, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik were as close as can be, which is why we’re all totally shocked that behind the scenes, there was actually some major feuding going on.
“It was incredible. But we got tired. Not tired of it, just tired out,” the “Slow Hands” crooner explained to The Telegraph. “Five albums, five tours, in five years. We were all knackered. I can never really remember any major bust-ups, just brotherly family nagging, s–tty arguments like that. But we were gonna end up killing each other. We all sat down one day, had a chat and it was like, we need to take a break. Step back, chill out and try something new.”
But despite everything, the 26-year-old revealed he’s still totally down for a reunion.
“I’m enjoying what I’m doing, but if one of the lads were to pick up the phone and say it’s time, I’d do it,” he added.
As fans know, Niall’s admission comes just weeks after Liam opened up about his secret drama with Louis.
“When we were in the band — because [Louis] was the oldest and because I had been singing for quite a little bit of time, we both got put into a weird position because he wanted to be the leader and I was doing my thing and wanted to too,” he told Hits Radio on September 18. “So at first we didn’t get on at all. We absolutely hated each other, it was so funny.”
The 1D heartthrob explained that although things were “really bad” between them, they were able to “hide it well” from the rest of the world.
“It was crazy. In the end we kind of just settled that we’d both do different parts,” Liam explained.
We’re so relieved that they were able to work everything out in the end!
