Bella Thorne and Zendaya go way back. The actresses were co-stars on the Disney Channel series Shake It Up and since they played best friends Cece and Rocky, IRL the girls became quite close too. Since their series ended back in 2013, they’ve still stayed supportive of each other, showing up at movie premieres, having random hangout sessions, watching and even guest-starring on each other’s new shows, and reuniting at the Women’s March. So safe to say B and Z know they’ll forever be connected and they embrace this! But each girl has also taken a different approach to how they’re going about their careers and overall public image, which is totally fine, but there is someone who would rather everyone just stop comparing them: Bella.
The Famous In Love star took to Twitter where she casually liked a tweet from a fan defending her against someone else who decided to share a rather unflattering, more silly pic of B from her Snapchat adventures and compare it to a mega-glam shot of Z. The purpose of this not so nice tweet is to basically point out how “different” the two stars of the same show turned out. This fan is saying that the comparison is rather unfair and it seems like Bella agrees.
But for real, that isn’t really fair at all, since everyone is capable of having these two moods. It really is ridiculous to even compare the girls at all, because well, they’re not the same person and they can each decide how they want to be tbh. What ever they choose to do with their outfits, hairstyles, the movies, and shows they act in, who they date, what have you is totally up to them and it’s really not for the rest of us to compare them. This is, unfortunately, something that even came between Bella and Zendaya while they were starring on Shake It Up. Before they were able to actually become friends with each other, Bella exclusive opened up to J-14 about how they were pitted against each other and basically forced to not get along until they realized they really are better off actually being friends.
“Zendaya and I were put in a very unfortunate position where we were kind of forced to compete against each other [during Shake It Up], which made the whole first season of the show just very awkward for us,” Bella told us back in 2015. “We wanted to love each other, but yet we were constantly being put against each other. It was, ‘Who’s better at this?’ and ‘Who’s better at that?’ And then second season, we kind of just had this tell-all talk where we started crying and really just put everything out there on the table, and that’s when we became best friends.”
Pitting young women against each other is simply just not cool and we have a feeling it won’t come between these two again. They’re older and wiser now and know that together, they’re stronger and there really is no competition between them. Z still has her Disney Channel series K.C. Undercover she’s working hard at, which Bella has guest-starred on in the past, and Bella is currently the lead role on FIL, which she plans to have Z guest-star on too. They’ve both been killing it with their respective movie roles too, so let’s just all get along. Plenty of room for everyone to be successful in their own way!
