Today marks the 10-year anniversary of one of the most important movie-musicals of our time: High School Musical 3: Senior Year. Yep, that’s right. On Oct. 24, 2008, the third installment of the fan-fave franchise premiered. While the first two Disney Channel Original Movies were strictly TV-movies, HSM 3 made history by hitting theaters and making a whopping $17 million on its opening night. You know, no big deal. If you’re anything like us, HSM 3 is fresh in your memory – because well, chances are you’ve seen it just about a million times. But then it hits you: 2008 was officially an entire decade ago. Like, how? Sorry, but wasn’t that legit just yesterday?!

Now that you’ve wrapped your head around the fact that so many years have flown by, it’s time to think about what life was like then. There were some truly wonderful movies that came out that year that defined so many childhoods and young adult years. Naturally, we just had to take a trip down memory lane and look back at these movies. Spoiler alert: 2008 was when we first watched Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas sing together in Camp Rock. So yeah, this is all pretty mind-blowing, to say the least. Check out which movies are turning 10-years-old this year below – and try not to shed too many tears.
