We have some seriously heartbreaking news for you guys. Yeah, you might want to grab some tissues because one of our favorite Riverdale couples — Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart — has reportedly broken up after almost two years together.
According to Us Weekly, the actors were spotted keeping their distance from each other at the Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con party in San Diego on Saturday, July 21. An eyewitness told the magazine that they both mingled with their other Riverdale castmates at different times, and that they were rarely seen together. The outlet also reported that the onlooker overheard the Suite Life of Zack and Cody star telling a pal that he and Lili had split, and that they left the event separately. OMG.
As fans know, Cole and Lili play Betty Cooper and Jughead Jones in the CW series, and their characters are ultimate couple goals, TBH. And when the stars fell for each other IRL, we all quickly became obsessed with their relationship.
Although we’re not 100 percent sure of the exact date that they became more than friends, rumors first started swirling that they were a couple after they were spotted kissing and holding hands at Comic-Con in 2017. They went red carpet official in May 2018, and since then, they definitely haven’t been afraid to show off their love. They’re pretty much always posting adorable, PDA-filled snaps together, gushing over each other in interviews and supporting each other’s work.
Back in December 2018, the 22-year-old blonde beauty even revealed that she was destined to marry the former Disney star! That is, at least according to a Buzzfeed quiz. She posted a screenshot of her results to a quiz titled, “Which Sprouse Is Destined to Be Your Spouse?” to her Instagram Stories. She got Cole, and she was definitely relieved.
And in March 2019, the 26-year-old actor shared the most romantic thing he had done for Lili.
“I took my girlfriend on a date where we drove to this location deep into Canada, and I surprised her with a big hot-air balloon adventure, which was quite a bit of fun,” he told Glamour. “I like traveling quite a bit. I like road-tripping. Those grand experiences always end up yielding the greatest memories — and the greatest romances.”
Ugh, this is seriously the worst news ever.
