Dove Cameron just shared a couple throwback videos of her as a toddler, and they honestly might be the cutest things we have ever seen. In the clips, which the Descendants 2 actress shared to her Instagram on Wednesday, Dec. 26, Dove proved at 2 years old that she was meant for showbiz even as a baby!
“Mom broke out the baby videos,” the actress captioned the first one, which based on the time stamp from the video was recorded in November of 1998. During the sweet clip, Dove could be seen laying on the floor, staring at the camera. “Are you all cozy?” her dad asked her in the vid. “How’d you get down there?” her mom chimed in.
The second clip was just as cute, which was recorded in June of 1998. “How many of these am I going to post?” Dove wrote on Instagram. “Let’s see how far I take it.” This time it showed the actress playing on the floor with her mom, and it couldn’t have been sweeter. “What’s that on your cheek?” her dad asked her in the video, referring to a fish sticker little Dove had stuck to her face. “Sticker,” Dove replied, and her little voice made our hearts melt.
The third clip, which Dove captioned, “This is the most important one,” is our personal favorite. Recorded in August of 1998, baby Dove could be seen singing the infamous “Baby Shark” song that’s taken the Internet by storm lately. “Daddy shark do do do do,” she sang over and over again in the clip, getting louder and more excited as she went on. It’s seriously too cute, and it’s just more proof that Dove was destined for the stage!
The videos are especially sentimental because as J-14 readers know, the actress unfortunately lost her dad, Philip Alan Hosterman, when she was 15 years old.
“I feel as though I understand you more and more as I begin to understand myself in these formative years, and although it can’t ever replace the years I’ve lost with you, I know I am never without you because you are in me,” Dove opened up in a post dedicated to her late father in 2016. “The gift that you have given to me and Claire, the intense pain and loss, has brought a clarity, a deep human connection, an empathy and a color to our lives in a way that nothing else could. I can never go back to who I was before, and I would never want to. You still teach me lessons every day, and make me laugh as the lessons you instilled at a young age begin to settle into my bones and make more sense. You set me up for the best life imaginable, and I plan to make you proud every single day and never waste it.”
We are sure Philip would be so proud of his daughter, who’s currently slaying the stage every night in the off-Broadway production of Clueless: The Musical.
