Dove Cameron, the queen of subtle shade, might just be back in action and it’s truly amazing. The 22-year-old starlet has been busier than ever, but she’s still letting us all know that she’s much better off now in her current life stage and relationship than she was before. In a typical, classy-Dove way, of course.
So here’s what went down: The Emmy-winning actress is currently slaying the stage each day with her leading role in the off-Broadway production of Clueless: The Musical, while also gearing up to finish working on her debut solo album, and she plenty of upcoming movies on the way. Yes, the Dove fandom has been thriving. And as any Dove fan know, she’s also head over heels in love with her bae Thomas Doherty. The pair met while filming Descendants 2, but before the Domas love story blossomed, she was engaged to former Liv and Maddie co-star Ryan McCartan. So when one of her fans sent her a sweet message on Twitter, saying how proud she is and all the star has overcome, Dove’s relationship with Ryan came up.
“Just so you know stanning you for over 4 years and seeing you from a toxic relationship to a loving relationship to making music you love to going to broadway makes me stunning I’m proud of you!” the tweet read, to which Dove replied, “i love you.”
Now, clearly this was just a really genuinely adorable interaction between Dove and her fan, but it is interesting that Dove’s former relationship came up and she responded to this specific tweet. Dove hasn’t hidden the fact that the Rove ship wasn’t picture perfect, revealing after their breakup back in 2017 that Ryan was “terrible” to her. While Ryan, 25, has never addressed the rumors, they have each moved on though. Dove and Thomas seem to truly be a perfect match and she’s often sharing updates about how the 23-year-old actor treats her like the queen she is.

Ryan is currently starring in Wicked on Broadway himself, so they’re both doing well now. But it looks like they might never be able to shake the Rove connection, no matter how much time has passed.
