Ouch! Jennette McCurdy seemingly threw some subtle shade towards her former Sam & Cat costar Ariana Grande.

While discussing her past on Nickelodeon with Elite Daily, fans were quick to notice that the actress thanked a bunch of her costars, but didn’t mention Ariana.

“I would not have such an enjoyable life if these people weren’t in it,” she told the magazine of her former costars Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress, Jerry Trainor and Noah Munck, as well as some of the crew. “The human connections you have with people is always what determines whether, ultimately, something is a good or bad experience.”

According to the 27-year-old, she didn’t have the easiest time while starring in the series.

“I still have complicated feelings toward my past from my experience with Nickelodeon,” she explained. “It’s something that I work on. I’d like to get to a place of peace with my past. That would be great.”

For those who forgot, Ariana and Jennette played best friends in the epic iCarly and Victorious spinoff show, but IRL, they had a ton of drama. After Jennette was MIA at the 2014 Kids Choice Awards (their show won the award for Favorite TV Show), and she unfollowed the “God Is A Woman” songstress, fans started to worry that something had gone wrong between the besties. And when Jennette took to Twitter to explain why she didn’t show up to the awards show, it fueled rumors even more.

“I was put in an uncomfortable, compromising, unfair situation (many of you have guessed what it is) and I had to look out for me,” she wrote. “I chose to not go because sticking up for what is right and what is fair is what my mom taught me is ALWAYS the most important thing.”

Reports later came out that Jennette was not happy with the fact that Ariana allegedly made more money than her during their time on Sam & Cat. Ariana responded to these claims, writing, “I hate addressing rumors and I hate gossip but this is really bothering me. Jennette and I agreed upfront that we would be treated equally on this show in all regards (as we should be, considering we each work just as hard as the other on this show). The rumors circulating about our contracts and our salary not being equal are absolutely ridiculous and false. I don’t know who’s putting these idiotic quotes out there but I thought I’d straighten it out and try to end this nonsense.”

In June of 2014 when Jennette posted a cryptic message about letting go of a “trouble friend,” everyone assumed it was about Ariana.

“We aren’t better friends because being friends with you takes the ‘better’ out of me. In fact, I might possibly be the worst version of myself when I’m around you,” she wrote. “You won’t be hearing from me anymore because sweetheart, being a friend to you was doing so much more for you than it was doing for me. You sucked the life right out of me, and I want my life back.”

Talk about harsh. But in 2015, Jennette spoke out about their rumored feud, explaining that she actually thought of Ari like a sister.

“We butted heads at times but in a very sisterly way,” she told E! News. “She knows me so well and I know her so well that I think it was unfortunate that things kind of got misconstrued.”
