Well, fam! You asked and Netflix answered. The Kissing Booth will, in fact, have a sequel, which was just confirmed by Joey King and Joel Courtney in the most adorable way ever.
You heard that right, ladies and gents! The onscreen besties took to Instagram to share a teaser for The Kissing Booth 2, and it’s truly bringing back all the feels that made us fall in love with the first movie. In it, the 19-year-old actress and the F*&% The Prom star are seen refurbishing their kissing booth, and of course, they found some time to goof around as well.
The end of the clip, however, is definitely the best part. Why? Because that’s when we get the confirmation we’ve all been waiting for that a second movie is currently in the works.
When Joey asks Joel what he thinks of the booth, he says, “I think we’re missing just one thing.” Then, he proceeds to pull out a wooden “2,” which they nail on the kissing booth together before breaking out into an excited dance. Yeah, we’d say that pretty much sums up how we’re all feeling right about now.
Along with the teaser, Joey wrote, “YUP!!! WE ARE GETTING A SEQUEL!!!”
Joel echoed that same sentiment on his own Instagram, writing, “Sooooo ITS HAPPENING!!!!!!” OMG, we seriously can’t wait.
Honestly, we’re not surprised at all that a second movie is on the way. However, we’re somewhat shook by today’s announcement because Joey recently told ET that she wasn’t sure if a sequel was going to happen at all.
On February 11, she told the outlet, “I can’t really say anything, because I don’t know yet. I know I would love to be part of something like that, but you know, my fingers are crossed.”
Well, it seems like we can all uncross our fingers now. The Kissing Booth 2 is officially coming to Netflix, and we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more deets.
