Joey King just went bald! The 19-year-old actress shaved her head for her role in the upcoming Hulu series, The Act. The star opened up to Allure about the whole process of letting go of her locks for the role.
“I’ve never really had an attachment to my hair. I couldn’t care less what happens to it,” she said. “No part of me was nervous or was second-guessing it. So many people would ask me, ‘Are you really scared?’ or ‘Are you nervous?’ or say, ‘You’re so brave.’ And I’d go, ‘I’m not brave. I’m just cutting my hair off.'”
Joey captioned the video she posted to Instagram, “My name for the next 4 months, is Gypsy Rose Blanchard. This story is very disturbing and I am honored to be able to portray it. What a wild ride this will be on “The Act” @huluLink in my bio for the exclusive interview I gave with @allure talking about the decision to shave my head for a 3rd time for a project I’m so ready to take on.”
This isn’t the first time Joey ditched her hair for a role! Previously, the actress went basically bald when she was 11 for The Dark Knight Rises. And then, she did it again at age 14 for Wish I Was Here.
Last month, Joey actually dyed her hair electric blue! “goes to CVS for candy. Buys a box of blue hair dye. Makes @kelliisking dye my hair…tells @neekotto he can cut my bangs,” she captioned her post, in which she revealed her updated ‘do.
But before she went for the bright blue look, she had actually went blonde – which was quite a shock for fans who know her best as a brunette in her hit Netflix rom-com, The Kissing Booth. However, this wasn’t the first time she rocked light locks. The star had been blonde as a little kid when she appeared on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. So yeah, she has basically tried every hairstyle at this point.
